Enjoyed an Alto Sax Last Night

Tonight’s American Idol was awesome, they are picking off the people the people who I have enjoyed all season, but I knew that they were going to end up going home sooner or later. My BFF and I both watch American Idol and Dancing With The Stars and text each other on average 65 times throughout each episode with comments and remarks, we have a blast. Since she moved 7 hours away we do what we can to continue to spend quality time watching our favorite TV shows together, when we can.

I love watching the musicians that are playing in the background on both shows. Last night we got to enjoy a nice alto sax while one male contestant sang his farewell song before heading back home due to low numbers. I really think that the singers that play a musical instrument have so much more to offer than the ones that are limited to their vocals, as great and powerful as they are mind you. It’s just a personal opinion and observation that my BFF doesn’t necessarily agree with LOL! Actually my favorite doesn’t play an instrument, or at least she hasn’t played or mentioned one yet. We don’t have long to go before American Idol will be nothing but a memory but at least we will still have DWTS for a few months.

My sister’s sister-in-law, Susan has been a nurse for most of her life. She is an interesting person to talk with, very knowledgeable in most medical conditions and very opinionated on how our current health care system is messed up as well as the new Obama Care that we are hearing so much about. And she has a great sense of humor. She left her husband, joined the Army, left the state of Maine and is now living only less than an hour from where my sister and her husband live.

Susan call tell some stories. I swear I learn so much each and every time I have the opportunity to spend any time with her. I feel bad sometimes like I should be giving her something for all of the free medical advise that I just can’t help myself asking and end up picking her brain for. She is a good sport and so far hasn’t given any indication that I am getting on her nerves and/or crossing over any lines.

I got her on my laptop that I always carry with me the last time she was over at my sister’s place and I was there as well. Had her looking up everything from spirometers at medicaldevicedepot.com to one of my favorite online healthcare sites – WebMD to find out more about Ulcerative Colitis. I now have a whole new group of “Favorites” on all types of medical goodies that I can fall back on instead of always turning to her. LOL!

Some of the guys at work are getting restless with this winter weather and talking about doing something fun to get out of the house and work off some steam. The weekend of February 3rd that we were discussing won’t work – everyone has big plans for Super Bowl parties and the sales manager is even going to the game in New Orleans, the lucky dog. When I want to get outside, hunting, fishing and golf are always options but they are so slow-paced I don’t really feel like I’ve gotten any exercise. We want to do something active, so I’m pitching the idea of a paintball tournament. We can make up two teams from the operations side of the company against the sales side of the company and meet up on the paintball field to have some fun.

If you like paintball you probably have bought some of your own gear, although the paintball fields have gear for you on site to use for the day. But when I got started a few years ago, I wanted my own gun and found everything I needed on the internet, especially on the ultimatepaintball.com site. There are complete kits and all kinds of accessories, like masks, gun stocks, scopes, gear bags, etc.

The local paintball field is only about 10 minutes from my house, but with a little searching I found over 30 paintball fields just in the state. That’s exciting, because playing on a new field is what makes it challenging. Besides the field looking different and having different geological aspects – rocks, ditches, shrubs and bushes, trees, there are different philosophies on how they are run by the owners and the refs. The worst thing about the fields close to me is all the newbies – or noobs. The game does attract a lot of teenagers who act the fool. Best thing you can do is go really early – the fields usually open around 10:00 and close well before dark. Teens like to sleep late on Saturdays, so getting there early puts you in with the other more serious players.

I love how Facebook has brought so many old friends and co workers into my life that I’m sure wouldn’t have happened without this ever popular social network of the century!  I answered a call for help from Cindy, on Facebook today, a real good person, a great co-worker and now I call her an old friend that I worked with back-in-the-day, for Nationwide Insurance, the claims department. I was the receptionist and she was a claims adjuster and we just really hit it off from day one.

Anyway she has a big project coming up for a trade show that is being held in Las Vegas in just a couple of weeks and she needs someone to help her with getting everything done, an assistant so to speak. I didn’t speak up at first, I wanted to see if anyone else would step up or what and no one ever did. Boy didn’t I feel bad because I know how important this whole project is for her, so I volunteered for the job and will be spending a good amount of time over at her place this next week or so. She needs a lot of flyers for the trade show that I’ll be lining up for her to pick up, ready to go in Vegas so she doesn’t have to worry about paying extra for taking them on the plane in her luggage.
