Scanning Photos

Found a shoebox with a bunch of old photographs in it. The photographs were from a variety of time periods, from baby pictures, to school pictures, and multiple birthdays and Christmases. I thought it would be a good idea to scan all of these and preserve them as digital copies. Some of the photos have aged badly, turning dark red and losing all the blues and greens that were in the original color photos. This is going to be a long term project. The scanner is slow and so am I.

I’m not even sure who a lot of these people are. I will have to ask my folks and other family members for their help with this task that could easily take over my life if I don’t be careful and go over board. I tend to do things like that. But this should be fun and very educational and so many family members will benefit from my work, at least I hope they do.

I don’t know about you but I have just about come to the conclusion that laws are getting crazy, especially corporate law.  Oh my goodness I have a cousin in North Carolina that runs a rather large company and from just a few of the things she discusses with me, I don’t ever want to have to do what he does.  There isn’t much you can do without consulting a lawyer.  Contracts have become extremely difficult and there’s no such thing as a simple contract anymore.

Anyway, my cousin did a search of corporate lawyer raleigh nc  just to make sure they have all of their ‘I’s’ dotted and their ‘T’s’ crossed.  He is very pleased with who he came up with too.  I know that just recently he had some major snafu legally and it was about to get to him.

He called me to just to chat because he said his wife has heard it all and is sick and tired of it.  I can only imagine but one thing she needs to realize is that her husband must trust her or he wouldn’t be discussing his work with her.  She thinks he should leave his work at work and not bring it home.  Well she doesn’t mind spending the money he brings home from work, now does she?  I think I better stop right there before I find myself sticking my foot in my mouth, ya know what I mean????

I have always worn a wrist watch, even with all the other technology that now tells us the time at a glance, such as cell phones, blackberries and our computers, I still need to have a watch on my wrist. I just don’t feel completely dressed without one. With as much work that is needed to be done around here I can’t always rely on pulling out my cell phone, at times it is tucked away under several layers of clothing and can’t be easily found in order to see what time it is, while my wrist is always available, for a quick glance of the time.

I have no shortages of wrist watches to use, I now have my grandfather’s few wrist watches that I can wear, if and when I need to, but at times I would really like to have a new watch to sport. It’s ironic how so much of my grandfather’s clothes and accessories fit and seem to look good on me. He used to have me order his Levis Jeans online at gandclothing.com, I still have a pair of his Levis Jeans that we ordered together that he never even wore. I still go on that website and find myself looking at their deals. They still offer a free delivery for orders over $100 and the few returns that we had always went smoothly. Now this Venture Horizon 24 Cubby CD & DVD Wall Rack that has enough space for up to 310 CDs, 96 DVD’s, 122 Blu-ray or 48 VHS tapes should do just fine for my brother to use in his new apartment. We are having home warming party for him, although he is kicking and screaming throughout the whole process. He is such a loner, doesn’t like a lot of people around him, one reason he has found his own apartment that he can afford on his own, with out the aid of a room-mate, which means a lot to him. So the thought of a lot of people in his new apartment is a turn off to him, but it’s too late to turn back now.

I’m glad I looked at standsandmounts dvd cabinets and found one that I think will look good and hold a good amount of the CDs, DVDs, and VHS tapes that he has collected throughout his life. I’m sure it would take two of these holders, possibly three to hold all of what he actually owns, but this will be a start and we can always get more. I’ve bookmarked the site as well as sent the link to my sister and mother for them to see which one I picked out and placed my order on.

My sister’s sister-in-law, Susan has been a nurse for most of her life. She is an interesting person to talk with, very knowledgeable in most medical conditions and very opinionated on how our current health care system is messed up as well as the new Obama Care that we are hearing so much about. And she has a great sense of humor. She left her husband, joined the Army, left the state of Maine and is now living only less than an hour from where my sister and her husband live.

Susan call tell some stories. I swear I learn so much each and every time I have the opportunity to spend any time with her. I feel bad sometimes like I should be giving her something for all of the free medical advise that I just can’t help myself asking and end up picking her brain for. She is a good sport and so far hasn’t given any indication that I am getting on her nerves and/or crossing over any lines.

I got her on my laptop that I always carry with me the last time she was over at my sister’s place and I was there as well. Had her looking up everything from spirometers at medicaldevicedepot.com to one of my favorite online healthcare sites – WebMD to find out more about Ulcerative Colitis. I now have a whole new group of “Favorites” on all types of medical goodies that I can fall back on instead of always turning to her. LOL!
