An embarrassing moment!

February 25th, 2010

Every once in awhile I do something that’s a little bit embarrassing, the other day I went to work and everything was as usual. I went outside on my lunch break as I often do and sat in my truck to read. It was nice and warm out I was soon relaxed.

The next thing I knew, Susan was knocking on my window. She asked if I was going to return to work or sit out here and sleep the day away. I was so embarrassed about the whole thing and had to walk back into work to the cheers and jeers of my co-workers. I guess I’ll have to wait until someone else does something dumb so the heat will be off of me!

Happy Birthday Donna

February 19th, 2010

A friend of mine from the “old neighborhood” is celebrating her birthday today. I gave her a call to wish her a happy birthday and as we talked a bit, I was surprised when she told me that she has been working on a blog, too. So I checked out her blog today and decided to bookmark it so I can read it regularly. I might even subscribe to her RSS feed, but I’m not really sure how all that works.

Anyway, if you happen to be reading this, Donna, I hope you had a wonderful birthday today and I am looking forward to reading your blog.

Representative John Murtha died today at the Virginia Hospital Center located in Arlington, Va. The long time Democrat was known for his outspoken criticism of former president George Bush’s handling of the Iraqi war. 77 year old Murtha was a former marine and was known as the voice of veterans in this country.

Murtha represented the good people of Pennsylvania since 1974 after winning a special election. He was known for bringing the money home from Washington by taking advantage of the earmarking process. He is survived by his wife Joyce and three children.

Snow Storm

February 2nd, 2010

One thing that I have learned in my three years at Virginia Beach is that it never snows. Even when the rest of Virginia is snowed under, we just get rain. That’s all changed this weekend and we have enjoyed the first real snowstorm we’ve had since I moved here. I must say that it has been wonderful so far.

The first thing I noticed when I went out to the store was that every kid on the block was outside playing. I even saw many parents dressed for winter out playing with the kids. The storm happened on a weekend so almost everyone was home. I also noticed that school was let out today and so the kids will be out again. I’m sure there are a lot of parents who are just about ready for the kids to get back to school!!
