Log Cabin Day
I was looking through some of the holidays we celebrate and noticed one that I thought was interesting. Log Cabin Day was started by Virginia Handy in 1986. Based in Michigan, the day promotes awareness of the rustic simplicity of log cabins.
There are still many of these wonderful examples of early American life available to see and visit. Check your local listing and you will most likely find one near you. Early Americans were used to these types of structures and were served well by them. I join with the many other people who respect the value of these simple structures and the role they played in our history!

In 1913, a bill was introduced by U.S. President Calvin Coolidge to make the third Sunday in June an official holiday called fathers day. The idea is attributed to Sonora Smart Dodd from the state of Washington in honor of her father who was born in June. I am glad to support this holiday.
I just wanted to let my dad know how much I love him. This is a day when I can give my dad thanks for all that he has done for me. I hope my dad will understand how deep my love for him is and that he has a special day to remember. I Love You Dad!

One of the things that is near and dear to my heart is the cell phone. Now that I have one, I cannot imagine life without it. Everywhere I go I am able to connect with the outside world, as long as my battery holds out that is. I have many uses for my phone. I use it for work and for my personal life. I can stay in touch with almost anyone.
When I was little, we were limited to how far a cord could reach. No matter how I tried, I could not get to the refrigerator with out setting down the phone. Now, I can not only reach the fridge, I can even go upstairs or for a ride in the car. I’m glad they were able to invent such a useful product. I hope that the kids will appreciate the good thing they have.

Today marks a very special day in history. American and British troops stormed onto the beaches in Normandy to fight the Nazi regime. Though faced with the firepower of the German army, they forged ahead and made history this day. I want to make sure that everyone remembers the sacrifices these brave soldiers made to maintain the freedoms we enjoy today. I hope that everyone will spend a few moments reflecting on the contribution of these allied forces.

I wanted to write a short post about one of my favorite writers, Dr Seuss. Ever since I was a young kid, I enjoyed his work. I have many memories of reading his awesome books. My personal favorite was A Cat in the Hat. I still like that book today! He was always able to create great characters and made them come to life. The stories were helpful to the young at heart and told of life’s mysteries.
One of the things I like to do is to read these books with my children. They love the books as much as I do. I am glad that we have something that we can share together. My daughter likes Green Eggs and Ham, while my boy likes One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish. No matter which book you read, you are always in for a treat.
