My Cactus Plant

May 30th, 2009

About five years ago, my Mom gave me a small Cactus plant. She did not want it and so she thought I might like to have it. I took the plant and put it in my living room bay window. Since then, it has grown to a height of almost five feet. I really like the plant because if I forget to water it, it doesn’t die right away.

I am thinking that I may have to clip the plant soon. It is getting very close to the ceiling and I don’t know what it would do then. I don’t want to kill the plant by accident so I am looking for a way to clip it without harm. All in all, I am really happy about the plant and am glad I seem to have a green thumb!

My Favorite Tunes!

May 27th, 2009

Everyone knows that my favorite band is the Beatles! I can’t tell you how many songs they have that I know all the words to. I was playing their greatest hits album the other day and was able to sing along without missing a word. One of the best songs they have that I like is Penny Lane. I don’t really know why, but I know that I like it!

All in all, I think their best album was Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts club Band. There are so many good songs on that album and I enjoy the fun feeling it brings. They make great use of many different instruments and it has a unique style that is all its own. I really liked introducing their music to my kids. I wanted them to experience the same things I did when I was young. I think they will enjoy the songs that are classic and timeless. Thank you Beatles!!

Memorial Day!

May 25th, 2009

Formerly known as declaration Day, we Americans celebrate Memorial Day each year on the last Monday in May. The holiday commemorates the all service members, both men and women, who have given their lives in defense of this country. I think this is one of our most important holidays we have.

Our great country has many freedoms that were hard earned. There are countless people who gave their lives to keep us free. I know that we will never know these people or be able to thank them personally. I do hope however, that they will know how much we appreciate the sacrifices they made. I hope that every American will come together and agree that these people deserve the honor and respect of a grateful nation!

Computer Security

May 21st, 2009

One of the key aspects of computer security is the password. Making sure your password strength is high can go a long way in protecting yourself from intruders. If a hacker or thief obtains your password, they can cause a lot of damage to your system and also steal you blind! I have a few tricks that I use to foil the bad guys attempts to access my computer.

Never use your name as a password. Also do not use the name of your pet. Avoid using your area code or your phone number. Do not write down your passwords. One of the keys to a good password is to use as many characters as possible. Use a few capital letters and some numbers as well. You can also change your password at random times. These simple tips can help keep your life from becoming a mess.
