Wake Up!!

April 29th, 2009

One thing I really enjoy is having my morning coffee. I have a coffee maker that has a timer on it and I set it up each night. There is nothing better than waking up and having my coffee ready. The wonderful smell is so inviting and makes me want to get out of bed! That first sip is wonderful!

My daughter enjoys coffee as well. That is a little surprising as she is still so young. I think it’s great that she enjoys it as much as I do. Lately, I have been drinking the Dunkin Doughnuts coffee. They make a pretty good brand and I like it a lot. I guess I’ll always be a coffee junkie!

Gun Control

April 9th, 2009

One item that is always in the news is the debate over gun control. I would like to take a minute and discuss my own personal view on the situation. I believe that citizens of the U.S. have the right to own a gun. Guns can be quite useful in deterring crime and protecting our families. The feeling of security they bring can make life a little easier to navigate through.

There are some rules that I think are reasonable to implement on gun owners. I think that registering the guns is a good idea. It gives law enforcement a handy tool in tracking stolen guns and a general idea of who has what. I also think that gun owners should be required to take and pass a gun safety course. Guns are inherently dangerous and the ability to use one safely is important.

I also believe that gun locks should be required in any home where kids are present. The accidental shooting deaths by children are tragic and in many cases could be avoided. I would also agree that some guns are not needed in today’s society. Automatic weapons seem to me to be unnecessary for any reasonable use. I am sure that the gun control debate will go on many years. I hope that we can find a solution that encompasses our rights, security, and safety.
