Fourth of July

July 4th, 2010

Happy Fourth of July everybody! This is the time of the year when we celebrate the founding of our country. Our forefathers fought long and hard in order to free this country and build it into a nation. It’s good that we remember the deeds they performed through the tough times.

Now our nation is free and strong. I hope that everyone will continue to embrace the tradition that was started. I know that these people will be in my heart when I watch the fireworks tonight. I hope that where ever they are, they will enjoy them too.

Kentucky Derby

May 2nd, 2010

It was a great race yesterday as Calvin Borel rode Super saver to a 2 1/2 length victory at the 136th running of the Kentucky Derby. After a heavy rain, the track was in a muddy condition as the gates opened and 20 horses took off. The winning time was 2:04.45 which was not bad considering the track condition.

The annual tournament at Churchill Downs went off without any major glitches and was a great show. There was the usual amount of wonderful hats as well as flowers all over the place. It was great to witness this wonderful event and I look forward to the Preakness to see if we have a possible Triple Crown winner.

I finally hit the jackpot!!

March 21st, 2010

Our office always has one thing or another going on. There are always raffles and football pools. The money usually goes to support our chosen charity of the March of Dimes. I like to play from time to time, but as of yet have never won.

All that has now changed, I won two tickets! I can’t believe that it’s finally happened. I won two tickets to the big monster truck rally that is scheduled for next month. I can’t wait to go and am looking forward to letting everyone know how it went. I’ll see you at the track!

Another wolf story!

January 29th, 2010

Since my last post involved a wolf, I think it’s neat that I can write about the wolf in another way. Tonight’s full moon is known as a wolf moon. This was what the Native Americans of our land called the first moon of the New Year. They noticed how wolves tended to howl at this particular moon and the name stuck!

Anyway, I hope that people will get a chance to go out tonight and see the moon for themselves. It should be big and bright tonight and will be fun to view. I hope you all enjoy it!

Teaching the kids

December 2nd, 2009

Since kids these days play so many video games, someone came up with a great idea. By putting together games that feature education, the kids can have fun while learning a thing or two. “Immune Attack” and “Moon Base Alpha” are two new games that use thinking, math, and science as part of the games. This way, kids not only have a good time, they also build their knowledge. I was thrilled to hear that these games will soon be available and plan to help my kids with some fun learning!
